  Feel like I'm living a lie....

  it's been a while since i've posted on the forum but im needing to get how i'm feeling out of my head and out in the open.

  i don't know what's going on with me but sometimes i feel overwhelmingly sad and my eyes well up like i'm going to start crying.

  i'm not thinking about any one particular thing when this happens.

  there is only one type of relationship that works ( and that is worth it too )

  That is one based on mutual respect. You are not in that kind of relationship, from what you say.

  Do you give to beggars?

  i have seldom given money to beggars.

  i have often thought that many are people who just do not want to work.

  however, i am starting to wonder if i ought to: and how much to give?.

  Thanks everyone for your input. I found all of your comments interesting, whilst searching my own heart.

  Lady Lee : Interesting experiences. There was no reason to be on the street begging for food. Maybe it would be good to find out local aid centers and help out or give to them.

  Dontplaceliterature: I was only going to use it for junk food...same as him probably. Good point. We all do “ waste” a lot of money which would really help someone who was really hungry.

  Aguest: I made a vow that if my situation changed, I would never judge such people negatively again... because I just don't know what their situations are. A very commendable attitude. God bless you.

  Sd-7: I wonder what Q would say if he read this thread... I really liked this thought provoking comment. I do like the idea that as a society we should evolve socially. Unfortunately, evolution seems to be a slow process.

  White Dove: I've been homeless with a baby before I hope things have worked out for you. And you’ve just reminded me: my wifes second cousin lived on the streets for two years. Had a baby too. I really must talk with her. Thanks.

  Donuthole: God makes it rain on the wicked and the righteous. Jesus gave himself for millions who will never appreciate it or acknowledge it. I quite liked that observation.

  MrFreeze : If you are doing something, like playing an instrument, I will throw some money your way. Then again, that is not begging. That is working as a street performer. Good point. At least they are doing something.

  Oompa : very very rarely.....it is almost like sex....there has to be a chemical attraction???.....anyway.....i gave last week......first time in ages.. I’m with you there. We is it we sometimes think: “aww, go on. Why not?

  I agree with the majority of you, who, having had bad experiences, are discouraged from giving.

  However, I am more and more aware that there are a lot of genuine people in dire straits.

  I wish it were easy to tell the difference. Whilst on holiday recently, I did give some to one old man. He didnt have any feet. Both were cut off at the ankle.He couldnt speak my language, but the warm smile he gave me was worth every penny I gave him.

  Many of you have made very valid points. Forgive me for only citing one, but I'm off to work soon:

  Cant save the world, but a little human kindness goes a long way

  However, I am starting to wonder if I ought to: and how much to give?

  I have just seen a news item that said that 10% of people in my well to do country live below the poverty line.

  An out of work estate agent was living on 12€ a day. ( 20$ but one cannot just compare on that basis.

  A BigMac costs 4€00 here , to give an idea.)

  I am starting to think that a very little means a lot to people in this predicament.

  I am not rich and just manage to round out the end of the month. But I am not in difficulty either.

  What are your thoughts?

  Are Jehovah’s Witnesses a Cult?

  this is an excerpt from the 1994 watchtower, february 15. in the entire article, the watchtower tries to debunk any claim of their cultism.

  see how they go about it.. " would it be accurate to refer to jehovahs witnesses as a religious group with radical views and practices that clash with what is accepted as normal social behavior?

  are jehovahs witnesses a cult?.

  Typical JW banter.

  To prove a point they cite an obscure journalist from checkoslovakia ( sorry if hes reading this )

  that few can verify, and present that as undisputable proof of what they are saying.

  Cult members often isolate themselves from family, friends, and even society in general. Is that the case with Jehovah’s Witnesses?

  Shunned by the window washer

  over the many years my wife and i were captives of the watchtower organization we hired witnesses from time to time to heip us maintain our home.

  one of those witnesses was a window washer who was quite good and reasonably priced so we have continued to use his services even after we faded 4 years ago.. so this year, my wife called to set up an appointment for him to come over and do our windows and he tells her he's not interested.

  now this may be because he's so busy and overworked that he just can't fit us in or it could be that after four years of not being at meetings he has chosen to shun us.

  mrs punk was not a happy bunny when i announced i was leaving the wtb$ as it was all a big farce.. she has been quite rude to me, she walked out one weekend and came back 2 days later from staying with a relative.

  she told me about all the negative reasons i left (attributing the 'evil' to me and none to the holy 7 headed beast the gb).

  she has told the teenage kids they are not to listen to me.. she refuses to talk bible and gives me the 'talk to the hand sign' on the basis she refuses to listen to my 'spiritual pornography' (now there's an appealing thought!!).
